Prof Zheng is Vice Director of the SMU Institute for Global Health and the Guangdong Center for STD Research and Innovation. He is holding roles as a Member of the Chinese Association of STD/AIDS Prevention and Control and Vice President of the Guangdong Association of STD/AIDS Prevention and Control.  He also directs key laboratories focused on STD research and diagnostics. Prof. Zheng also served as a Professor at the Dermatology Hospital of Southern Medical University.

Since 1995, Prof Zheng’s research has been focusing on pathogens and control of STD, including syphilis comprehensive control, gonococcal resistance and control, chlamydia infection and mechanisms. Leading 23 projects funded by the NSFC, etc, and anticipating as a sub-center Pl of researches funded by the NIH D43, U19 and the MSTC key project, he has achieved 6 scientific achievements, authored and co-authored 8 books and national standards, and published over 200 papers in journals, such as Nat Commun, Emerg Infect Dis, J Invest Dermatol, J Antimicrob Chemother, and Antimicrob Agents Chemother.
